Assumption Day is a public holiday observed every 15 August in Monaco to commemorate the taking up of the body of the Virgin Mary to Heaven by God, according to Roman Catholic tradition.

Many attend mass on this day, which is an obligatory feast day of the Catholic Church. And will also get a welcome day off work or out of school.
It is believed, according to centuries-old tradition as well as Catholic dogma proclaimed by Pope Pius XII in 1950, that Mary’s body died and was buried but was “assumed” into Heaven rather than seeing decay.
