Public Holidays 2017

This page contains a calendar of all 2017 public holidays for Kosovo. Please scroll down to view.

The Republic of Kosovo claimed its independence in February, 2008. Since its inception, the government, by national decree in Laws No. 03/L064, have created the following dates below as National Holidays. As nationally recognised holidays, all workers are entitled to receive the day off from work to participate in the celebration.

If it is necessary to work due to critical conditions, such as maintaining utilities, the workers are entitled to receive full pay for their work or one and a half days off in compensation for their work. Any holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday will be recognized the following Monday with a day off.

The population of Kosovo has many different cultures and religions, and different provinces, religions, or cultures may also celebrate different holidays specific to them. These are considered private holidays and not officially recognised by the government of The Republic of Kosovo.

It should also be noted that under the laws governing holidays, the government has the right to change, add, or delete holidays each year. A list of official holidays and memorial days are published each year by the government.
