Eid al-Fitr 2027 and 2028 in Albania
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated in Albania with much religious fervour and general merriment. The national holiday comes on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal, immediately following the holy month of Ramadan and month-long period of fasting, prayer and devotion. It is one of the most important of all Muslim commemorations.
In 2027, Eid al-Fitr falls on Tuesday 9 March. The holiday will be on Saturday 26 February in 2028.

The Arabic term “Eid al-Fitr” means, literally, “feast of breaking the fast”. It is the first day following the disciplined time of fasting, prayer, and reading of the Koran that takes place during the month of Ramadan.
In Tirana, Albania’s capital city, thousands normally congregate to wish each other “Eid greetings” in the city square. Similar traditions exist in other Albanian cities.
Throughout the country, people attend mosque for morning prayer, enjoy a family feast, give the zakat gift to the poor, take time to show respect for the elderly, and visit relatives for three consecutive days. Many also believe that the completion of Ramadan gives hope of gaining forgiveness from Allah.
