Christmas on Jersey is celebrated with a public holiday every 25 December, as it is in a majority of countries around the world. This Christian festivity commemorates the birth of Jesus, and is part of a 22-28 day season in the Christian calendar known as Advent.

Situated in the English Channel between the UK and France, Jersey Island is a Christmas getaway magnet. This little isle not only keeps Christmas but it does it in a unique way with style.
The main attraction is the market in Saint Helier, the main town on the island. Stores stay open extra hours to accommodate Christmas shoppers who stay out all night on Thursdays and Sundays.
Aside from the famous Christmas market, Jersey also offers entertainment at its opera house, where pantomime shows are put on. In Royal Square at Saint Helier, many artists display their work. Santa is likely to show up randomly too, surprising happy children. Finally, many go for a Christmas Morning swim at the beach before heading out shopping and seeing the sites.
