First Day of Summer 2027 and 2028 in Iceland
The First Day of Summer celebration in Iceland always falls on a Thursday, anywhere from 19 to 25 April. It has been an Icelandic tradition for many centuries, and it is deeply ingrained into the national culture.
In 2027, First Day of Summer falls on Thursday 22 April. The holiday will be on Thursday 20 April in 2028.

On the First Day of Summer, there are numerous parades held all over Iceland, often with scouts bearing the Iceland flag down the thoroughfares. There are also a lot of special family-oriented events.
In days gone by, many would give out presents on First Day of Summer, and some still do, but this tradition is not as strong as it used to be. There also used to be grand feasts on First Day of Summer, and people would refrain from all but the most necessary household chores. And there even used to be special masses held on this day, but again, many of these old traditions have disappeared or at least have begun to fade.
