New Year’s Day is a time of resolutions and starting fresh for some, while for others it is spent recovering from a big, late night spent with friends and family.
In Montenegro, 31 December is a bigger celebration than almost any other day of the year, including Christmas. The most notable distinction of New Year’s Eve parties in Montenegro is the abundance of large, open-air concerts that culminate in midnight fireworks displays. Pop singers from far and wide, as well as local greats, join in to sing the old year out and the new year in.
But these festivities actually begin on “New Year’s Eve Eve”, 30 December, which gives space for that much more partying! And literally thousands of people crowd in and stay all night.
