New Year’s Day is a time of resolutions and starting fresh for some, while for others it is spent recovering from a big, late night spent with friends and family.
Many traditions are shared with Denmark, such as listening to the Queen of Denmark’s New Year’s Eve speech and jumping out of the chair you are sitting in exactly at midnight for good luck.
And of course, people will gather at homes for family dinners and private parties, exchange cards or even gifts, and call up family and friends with a cheery “Happy New Year!” greeting.
